Ghee is currently on the kidney transplant waiting list.

Tony winner J. Harrison Ghee is turning a personal health journey into a call to action for National Minority Donor Awareness Month, which promotes donor education and registration in multicultural communities.
Ghee, who publicly shared a kidney disease diagnosis last year, is currently on the kidney transplant waiting list, and is encouraging people to register as an organ donor through their state’s donor registry, learn about living organ donation as a way to help address the donor shortage, or talk to family about organ donation wishes, since family members are often asked to confirm a loved one’s decision to donate.
As previously announced, Ghee is preparing for the first Oh, Mary! national tour where they will become the first actor to play both roles of Mary’s Husband and Mary Todd Lincoln.
Ghee was diagnosed with kidney disease in 2022 but kept the diagnosis private until 2025. Their condition is currently stable.
