Tony nominee Nina Arianda and stage and screen star Hugh Dancy, who star in the upcoming Broadway production of David Ives’ Venus in Fur, met the press at an event held at the Manhattan Theatre Club rehearsal studio on Monday, September 26.
The production will be presented by MTC in the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning October 13, with an opening slated for November 8. Tony Award winner Walter Bobbie will once again direct the production, which had its world premiere Off-Broadway at Classic Stage Company in January 2010.
In the play, Vanda (Arianda) is a preternaturally talented young actress determined to land the lead in Thomas’ (Dancy) new play based on the classic erotic novel, Venus in Fur. Her emotionally charged audition for the gifted but demanding playwright/director becomes an electrifying game of cat and mouse blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, seduction and power, love and sex.
