The cast and creative team for the Broadway revival of Stephen Schwartz’s musical, Godspell met the press at an open rehearsal, held at Ballet Hispanico Rehearsal Studios on Monday, September 26.
The production will begin previews at Circle in the Square on October 13, with an official opening set for November 7. Daniel Goldstein will direct, with choreography by Christopher Gattelli
The show, which debuted Off-Broadway at the Cherry Lane Theatre in 1971, is a take on biblical parables and the passion of Christ. It is conceived by original director John-Michael Tebelak, and features music and new lyrics from Schwartz.
The cast will feature Hunter Parrish as Jesus, Wallace Smith as Judas, and Uzo Aduba, Nick Blaemire, Celisse Henderson, Morgan James, Telly Leung, Lindsay Mendez, Anna Maria Perez de Tagle, and George Salazar.
The production will feature scenic design by David Korins, costume design by Miranda Hoffman, lighting design by David Weiner, sound design by Andrew Keister, orchestrations by Michael Holland, and musical direction by Charlie Alterman.
