Carnegie Hall celebrated its 120th anniversary with an all-star gala benefit concert featuring the New York Philharmonic under the baton of Music Director Alan Gilbert on Thursday, May 5. The concert was recorded, and will be broadcast on PBS by on May 31.
Four-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald performed songs of Duke Ellington, while guest soloists included pianist Emanuel Ax, violinist Gil Shaham, and cellist Yo-Yo Ma.
Among the guests were Broadway veterans Alec Baldwin, Norm Lewis, and Will Swenson, as well as opera great, Jessye Norman.
