Patti LuPone will receive the Sarah Siddons Award in a ceremony to be held on August 2 at the Ritz Carlton Hotel, according to a report in The Chicago Tribune. The prize is bestowed by the Sarah Siddons Society, a 58-year-old organization dedicated to the support of the theater and to providing scholarships to artists in training.
LuPone has won Tony Awards for her performances in Gypsy and Evita. Among her many other Broadway credits are The Robber Bridegroom, Master Class, Anything Goes, The Old Neighborhood, and Sweeney Todd.
The ceremony on August 2 will also feature the presentation of the society’s “Chicago’s Leading Lady” Award to Mary Beth Fisher.
