Sam Shepard’s 1983 drama makes its Broadway premiere with Manhattan Theatre Club.
The stars of Manhattan Theatre Club's upcoming Broadway production of Sam Shepard's 1983 drama Fool for Love met the press on September 2.
Sam Rockwell (A Behanding in Spokane) and Tony Award winner Nina Arianda (Venus in Fur) lead the four-member company alongside Daytime Emmy winner Tom Pelphrey (End of the Rainbow, Guiding Light) and Tony nominee Gordon Joseph Weiss (Ghetto). Rockwell, Arianda, and Weiss reprise performances they originated when this version of Fool for Love was presented at Williamstown Theatre Festival in 2014.
Daniel Aukin, who staged the Williamstown mounting of Fool for Love, returns alongside his creative team, made up of Dane Laffrey (scenic design), Anita Yavich (costume design), Justin Townsend (lighting design), Ryan Rumery (sound design), and David S. Leong (movement and fights).
Fool for Love, which premiered off-Broadway in 1983, follows a pair of former lovers who unpack their relationship in a seedy Mojave Desert motel. The drama begins performances September 15 at Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre, with opening night set for October 8.
