The acclaimed new musical Next to Normal, featuring a Tony Award-winning score by Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey, will launch its national tour at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles, in November 2010. Casting will be announced at a later date.
The musical, directed by Michael Greif, addresses issues of mental illness and a suburban family’s efforts to cope with loss. Confirmed engagements also include San Diego, Seattle, Hartford, Pittsburgh, St. Louis, St. Paul, Philadelphia, Charlotte, and Washington, DC. Additional cities will be announced in the near future.
The creative team includes Mark Wendland (set), Jeff Mahshie (costumes), Kevin Adams (lighting), Brian Ronan (sound), Sergio Trujillo (musical staging), Michael Starobin and Tom Kitt (orchestrations), and AnnMarie Milazzo (vocal arrangements).
