Neil Patrick Harris will direct the previously announced Hollywood Bowl production of Jonathan Larson’s Rent, to run August 6-8. Tim Weil will serve as musical director. Casting will be announced at a later date.
Harris starred in the Los Angeles and National Tour productions of Rent as Mark Cohen. Among his other stage credits are Assassins, Sweeney Todd, and All My Sons. He currently plays Barney Stinson on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, and starred in the title role of Doogie Howser, M.D. Harris also hosted the 63rd Tony Awards and the 61st Primetime Emmy Awards. As previously reported on TheaterMania, he will appear later this year on FOX’s Glee.
