The trio departs Terrence McNally’s comedy.
Nathan Lane, Megan Mullally, and Rupert Grint took their final bows in the hit Broadway production of Terrence McNally's It's Only a Play on January 4. It was an emotional scene onstage at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre, where the three actors received flowers from costars Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, F. Murray Abraham, and Micah Stock.
Beginning January 7, 2015, Jack O'Brien's production will welcome Tony and Emmy winner Martin Short, two-time Tony winner Katie Finneran, and 30 Rock alum Maulik Pancholy, who will take on the roles currently held by Lane, Mullally, and Grint, respectively. The comedy is set to run through March 29, and will move to the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre beginning January 23.
Set on the opening night of a new Broadway play, It's Only a Play follows a group of theater professionals as they await the opening-night reviews. McNally's comedy opened on October 9, 2014.
