We swear there’s no catch. It really is free.
Tony-nominated songwriters Justin Paul and Benj Pasek (A Christmas Story) and playwright Timothy Allen McDonald have released a cast recording of the new musical Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach as a permanently free download at jatgp.com.
Based on Roald Dahl's beloved best-selling book, the score incorporates a wide range of musical styles, including swing, vaudeville, gospel, and scat.
The album features an all-star Broadway cast, including Megan Hilty (Smash, Wicked) as Ladybug, Christian Borle (Something Rotten!, Peter Pan LIVE!) as Grasshopper, Brian d’Arcy James (Something Rotten!) as Centipede, Jackie Hoffman (On the Town) as Spiker, Mary Testa (Xanadu) as Sponge, Luca Padovan (Newsies) as James, Marc Kudisch (Hand to God) as Ladahlord, Daniel Breaker (Shrek the Musical) as Earthworm, and Sarah Stiles (Hand to God) as Spider, with bonus tracks by Skylar Astin ("Middle of a Moment") and Megan Hilty ("Everywhere That You Are").
"We wanted to get kids really excited about musical theater," said Paul. "We knew we had to write a really strong show, record the best album possible with Broadway’s top performers and then give it all away for free."
"I am so happy that this show is available to any child young or old who wants to download it," added McDonald. "It seems fitting that Roald Dahl’s story is helping make the world a better place for musical theater everywhere."
