The pair stars in New York City Center’s upcoming concert production of the classic Irving Berlin musical.
Rehearsals have begun for New York City Center's upcoming production of Annie Get Your Gun: In Concert, starring Megan Hilty as Annie Oakley and Andy Karl as Frank Butler.
Directed by Tony Award winner John Rando, the staging will be presented October 27 as City Center's annual gala, and then as a regular performance on October 28. Rob Berman will lead the Encores! orchestra.
Joining Hilty and Karl are Chuck Cooper (Amazing Grace), Judy Kaye (Nice Work If You Can Get It), Brad Oscar (Something Rotten!), and Ron Raines (Follies). The concert's ensemble includea Ward Billeisen, Sam Bolen, Laura D’Andre, Nicolas Dávila, Christine DiGiallonardo, Leah Horowitz, Miles Johnson, Andrea Jones-Sojola, Amy Justman, Patricia Noonan, Daniel Schwait, and Nicholas Ward.
Annie Get Your Gun features music and lyrics by Irving Berlin and a book by Herbert and Dorothy Fields. Loosely based on the true story of legendary sharpshooter Annie Oakley and her tempestuous romance with gunslinger Frank Butler, the musical features many musical favorites, including "You Can't Get a Man With a Gun," "There's No Business Like Show Business," and "Anything You Can Do." The original production starred Ethel Merman and opened at the Imperial Theatre on May 16, 1946.
