Paula Vogel and the stars of her play Indecent met the press at their rehearsal studio on March 13. Directed by Rebecca Taichman, the drama begins performances April 4 at the Cort Theatre, with opening night set for April 17.

The play with music is inspired by the controversial Broadway debut of Sholem Asch's 1923 play God of Vengeance. Some saw it as a seminal work of Jewish culture, and others as an act of traitorous libel. It is a transfer of the Vineyard Theatre production, which ran off-Broadway in 2016 in association with La Jolla Playhouse and Yale Repertory Theatre. The production marks the Broadway debuts of Vogel and Taichman.

As with the off-Broadway production, the company is made up of Katrina Lenk (Once), Mimi Lieber (Act One), Max Gordon Moore (Relatively Speaking), Tom Nelis (The Visit), Steven Rattazzi (The Fourth Sister), Richard Topol (Fish in the Dark), and Adina Verson (Him). Co-composers Aaron Halva and Lisa Gutkin serve as the onstage band alongside Matt Darriau.

The production's creative team includes David Dorfman (choreographer), Riccardo Hernandez (scenic designer), Emily Rebholz (costume designer), Chris Akerlind (lighting designer), Matt Hubbs (sound designer), and Tal Yarden (projection designer).
