Cast Announced for The Verge Off-Broadway

Fiasco Theater and the Public Theater have announced the cast and creative team for Fiasco’s upcoming staging of Susan Glaspell’s The Verge, set to begin performances at the Public Theater October 27 ahead of an official opening night November 5. Performances are scheduled through November 22.

Rarely produced, this 1921 play is about botanist Claire Archer and her mission to create a plant unlike any that has come before. Press material for the new production describes the play as a “witty farce, devastating philosophical debate, and scathing feminist cry.”

Glaspell was the 1930 Pulitzer Prize winner for Alison’s House and the founder of the Provincetown Players.

As previously reported, Miriam Silverman will lead the cast as Claire. She will be joined by Noah Brody (Harry), Paul L. Coffey (Anthony/Dr. Emmons), Devin E. Haqq (Dick), Amara Leonard (Elizabeth), Paco Tolson (Tom), and Emily Young (Adalaide/Hattie).

Jessie Austrian directs the production, which will feature lighting design by Amith Chandrashaker, costume design by Sarita P. Fellows, sound design by Bailey Trierweiler, scenic design by Lawrence E. Moten III, music supervision by Daniel Kluger, and props direction by Caitlyn Murphy. Caroline Englander will be the production stage manager.
