The first production photos of Lin-Manuel Miranda's new musical, Hamilton, have been released. The show began performances at the Public Theater's Newman Theater on January 20. Opening night is set for February 17, and the official closing date is April 5.

Directed by Thomas Kail and inspired by Ron Chernow's biography Alexander Hamilton, Hamilton explores the life of the American founding father and first Secretary of the Treasury, as well as his experiences as an orphan of the British West Indies who immigrated to the 13 Colonies and helped shape the United States of America.

Miranda takes on the title role, with a principal cast that includes Christopher Jackson (George Washington), Brian d'Arcy James (King George), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Angelica Schuyler), Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton), Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr), Daveed Diggs (Marquis De Lafayette, Thomas Jefferson), Anthony Ramos (John Laurens, Phillip Hamilton), Okieriete Onaodowan (Hercules Mulligan, James Madison), and Jasmine Cephas Jones (Peggy Shuyler, Maria Reynolds).

The ensemble is made up of Carleigh Bettiol, Ariana DeBose, Sydney James Harcourt, Sasha Hutchings, Thayne Jasperson, Stephanie Klemons, Jon Rua, Seth Stewart, Betsy Struxness, Ephraim Sykes, and Voltaire Wade-Greene. Swings are Andrew Chappelle and Alysha Deslorieux. Javier Muñoz serves as standby for Hamilton.
