Head to the festival with Roundabout Theatre Company.
The cast of Into the Woods, a production of Fiasco Theater that will play Roundabout Theatre Company's Laura Pels Theatre, met the press at their rehearsal studio on December 2. The production, which was first seen at the McCarter Theatre Center in New Jersey, begins previews on December 18, with an official opening scheduled for January 22.
Into the Woods stars Jessie Austrian as Baker’s Wife; Noah Brody as Lucinda, Wolf, and Cinderella’s Prince; Paul L. Coffey as Mysterious Man; Andy Grotelueschen as Milky White, Florinda, and Rapunzel’s Prince; Liz Hayes as Cinderella’s Stepmother and Jack’s Mother; Claire Karpen as Cinderella and Granny; Jennifer Mudge as Witch; Patrick Mulryan as Jack and Steward; Ben Steinfeld as Baker; and Emily Young as Little Red Ridinghood and Rapunzel.
The minimalist rendering of the fairy tale-inspired musical is directed by Noah Brody and Ben Steinfeld, who also starred in the McCarter production. Fiasco is known for its acclaimed small-scale revivals of Shakespeare's plays Cymbeline and Measure for Measure.
Into the Woods weaves together the stories of Cinderella, Little Red Ridinghood, Jack (and his beanstalk), and a childless Baker and his wife as they seek to achieve their greatest wishes. The musical was last seen in New York as part of Shakespeare in the Park's 2012 summer season. It premiered on Broadway in 1987 and was revived in 2002. A film version hits movie screens on December 25.
