McCarter Theatre to Present Smash Creator Theresa Rebeck's The Understudy

McCarter Theatre has announced plans to present The Understudy by Theresa Rebeck (Smash, Dead Accounts) in the Matthews Theatre from October 14-November 2. A press opening is set for October 14. Associate Artistic Director Adam Immerwahr will helm the production.

The Understudy premiered at Roundabout Theatre Company in 2009. In the play, things are not going well at the understudy rehearsal for the new Broadway production of a lost masterpiece by Franz Kafka. This backstage drama is an examination of art, celebrity, and theater.

The cast will feature Adam Green as Harry, Danielle Skraasdad as Roxanne, and J.D. Taylor as Jake.

The creative/design team includes Eugene Lee (scenic design), Stephen Strawbridge (lighting design), Kristin Isola (costume design), Nick Kourtides (sound design), Sam Pinkleton (choreography), and Samantha Bellomo (fight choreography).
