Kelly McAndrew has replaced film star Ashley Judd in the role of Maggie in the current Broadway production of Tennessee Williams’s Cat On a Hot Tin Roof at the Music Box Theatre. Judd has withdrawn from the production for medical reasons; McAndrew was the role’s understudy.
Judd injured her foot during the Tuesday, February 17 performance of the show and was not able to perform during the third act. She also missed the following Wednesday matinee performance but was able to appear in the evening performance that day, though she missed the Thursday evening and Saturday matinee shows. Her last performance in the role was on Sunday, February 22.
McAndrew is making her Broadway debut in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. She has appeared Off-Broadway in Lanford Wilson’s Book of Days and has also been seen in Talley’s Folly in St. Louis and Cincinatti; in Ghosts in Arizona; and in The Great White Hope, The Miracle Worker, and Holiday in Washington, D.C.
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, which also stars Ned Beatty and Jason Patric, was directed by Anthony Page. The production is currently scheduled to run through March 14.
