In celebration of the the 50th anniversary of the film version of Leonard Bernstein’s iconic West Side Story, the Manhattan School of Music’s Jazz Orchestra will hold a concert on November 11 at the school’s John C. Borden Auditorium. Justin Dicioccio will conduct.
Included in the concert will be jazz arrangements by acclaimed composers/arrangers Dave Grusin, Michael Abene and Don Sebesky. Three arrangements, which include Tonight and Somewhere by Johnny Richards and West Side Story Suite by Bill Peddie will also be performed.
West Side Story, won ten Academy Awards in 1961 including Best Picture. It remains an acclaimed convergence of several great American arts. This concert is part of MSM’s year-long programming of sound and image.
