The Makor cultural center will screen the 1996 film documentary The Line King: The Al Hirschfeld Story, which explores the life and career of the legendary theatrical artist, on June 11 at 7:30pm and 9:45pm. A panel discussion about Hirschfeld’s life will be held between the two screenings at 9pm.
Hirschfeld, who died earlier this year at age 99, spent decades creating memorable artwork depicting the people and shows that defined New York theater. The Makor panel discussion, which will be moderated by Susan Dryfoos, is scheduled to include Jules Feiffer, Sidney Lumet, Marian Seldes, Jonathan Darnton, and Louise Hirschfeld.
The event will be held at Makor, located at 35 West 67th Street. Admission is $25. For more information or to reserve tickets, click here.
