Magic/Bird Star Francois Battiste and Lombardi Stars Keith Nobbs and Bill Dawes Stick to Sports With Bronx Bombers

Primary Stages’ world premiere of the Eric Simonson play will also feature Chris Henry Coffey, Christopher Jackson, and more.

Primary Stages has announced full casting for the world premiere of Bronx Bombers, written by Lombardi and Magic/Bird playwright Eric Simonson. The play will run September 17-October 19 at Primary Stages at The Duke on 42nd Street. Bronx Bombers was conceived by Fran Kirmser and commissioned by Tony Ponturo. Simonson will also direct.

Bronx Bombers follows Yogi Berra and the New York Yankees, telling a generational story about America’s favorite pastime and examining how baseball’s most storied franchise has always focused on maintaining a great team.

The cast will include Wendy Makkena (Side Man), C.J. Wilson (The Big Knife), Francois Battiste (Magic/Bird), Chris Henry Coffey (Water by the Spoonful), Bill Dawes (Lombardi), Christopher Jackson (Memphis), Keith Nobbs (Lombardi), Emmy winner Joe Pantoliano (The Sopranos), and John Wernke (The Lyons).

The design team will feature scenic design by Beowulf Borritt, costume design by David C. Woolard, lighting design by Jason Lyons, and original music and sound by Lindsay Jones.
