Lydia R. Diamond's Smart People opened Thursday, April 20, at Arena Stage's Keeger Theater. Under the direction of Seema Sueko, performances are set to continue through May 21.

Smart People follows four intellectuals — a doctor, an actress, a psychologist, and a neurobiologist studying the human brain's response to race — search for love, acceptance and identity in a complex world where political correctness comes face-to-face with cold hard data.

The creative team includes Misha Kachman (set design), Dede M. Ayite (costume design), Xavier Pierce (lighting design), Andre Pluess (sound design), Jared Mezzocchi (projection design), and Anne Nesmith (wig design). Zach Campion is the vocal coach, and Kurt Hall is the stage manager.
