Lin-Manuel Miranda, Tony-winning creator of the Broadway musical Hamilton, will partner with Pat Rothfuss, author of The Kingkiller Chronicle book trilogy, to create a film and TV adaptation of the series for Lionsgate, Variety reports.
In addition to creative-producing, Miranda is signed on to compose original music and write songs for the franchise. Miranda will also have an option to be involved with future staged versions of the property.
The upcoming film will be based on the trilogy's first book, The Name of the Wind. Both Miranda and Rothfuss will be involved in creating the TV series' new characters and storylines, according to Lionsgate. Robert Lawrence will produce for film and television.
