Laura Benanti, Lainie Kazan, Julia Murney, Sarah Silverman and Lillias White will all share the role of Fanny Brice in a one-night-only Actors Fund benefit concert of Funny Girl, to be offered at the Pantages Theatre on March 14. Peter Flynn will direct the performance, which will have musical direction by Seth Rudetsky.
With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Bob Merrill and a book by Isobel Lennart, the show charts the real-life story of Brice’s rise to fame in the Ziegfeld Follies and her marriage to gambler Nick Arnstein. The show features such songs as “Don’t Rain on My Parade,” “I’m the Greatest Star,” “Sadie, Sadie” and “People.” Additional casting will be announced in the near future.
