La MaMa has announced programming for its 2019 winter and spring season, featuring works by artists from around the globe that discuss such topics as social inequality, immigration, racism, and homophobia.

Among the season highlights will be Generation NYZ (January 24-February 3), which will be part of Ping Chong Company's Undesirable Elements series. The piece is conceived by Ping Chong, directed by Sara Zatz and Kirya Traber, and written by Zatz and Traber in conjunction with the play's cast of eight international performers as they bravely speak their truths about coming of age in New York City. It was originally commissioned by the New Victory Theater where it premiered in January.

La MaMa will also present The Magic Agency, Chapter 6: Behind the Red Curtain (January 31-February 3), a new work written and directed by Sean Edward Lewis; and City of No Illusions (February 8-24), a new play written and directed by Paul Zimet, with music by Ellen Maddow (a founding member of the Talking Band).

Additional performances will be presented as part of the China Fringe Theater Festival, the Stonewall 50 Celebration, and more.
