Kinky Boots Releases New Music Video, Featuring Stark Sands and Billy Porter

The Tony-winning musical’s original stars sing a fresh rendition of “Not My Father’s Son.”

Kinky Boots has released a brand-new music video for "Not My Father’s Son," a duet between the show's main characters, Charlie and Lola, that celebrates finding peace in your own skin.

The video is conceived and directed by the show's Tony-, Emmy-, and Grammy-winning composer, Cyndi Lauper (who also makes a special appearance on guitar) and stars Tony Award winner Billy Porter and Tony Award nominee Stark Sands. Porter and Sands recently returned to the roles they originated on Broadway in 2013, performing a limited 15-week engagement through January 7, 2018.

"Now felt like the right time to do this," said Lauper in a statement. "I wanted to tell the story of two totally different men, from different walks of life, that come together to realize that it’s our differences that should bring us together. That’s inspiring. And I think we could all use some of that these days…It’s also a great way to welcome Billy and Stark back to Broadway!"

Take a look at the video below.

Kinky Boots, now running at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre, tells the story of Charlie Price, a young man reluctantly taking over his family’s struggling shoe factory and looking for a fresh idea. Charlie meets and finds inspiration in Lola and together, they discover that it takes a good friend to make a great pair. The show features a Tony-nominated book by Harvey Fierstein and Tony-nominated direction by Jerry Mitchell.
