Kerry Ellis and Brian May will launch Anthems: The Tour, with an engagement at Liverpool Philharmonic Hall on May 3.
Subsequent tour stops in the U.K. include Gateshead Sage (May 5), Sheffield City Hall (May 6), Nottingham Royal Centre (May 8), Birmingham Symphony Hall (May 9), Edinburgh Festival Theatre (May 11), Glasgow Royal Concert Hall (May 12), Cardiff St. David’s Hall (May 14), Manchester Bridgewater Hall (May 16), Milton Keynes Theatre (May 18), Southend Cliffs Pavilion (May 19), and Bath Forum (May 20).
The performances will be a live version of Ellis and May’s album of the same title. On it the pair perform May’s new arrangements for Ellis of such songs as “Defying Gravity,” “I’m Not That Girl,” “Anthem” (from Chess), “Love It When You Call,” “Save Me,” and “Diamonds Are Forever.” As previously announced, the tour will be preceded by a benefit performance by Ellis and May at Royal Albert Hall on May 1.
In related news, Decca Records has released a new single remix of Ellis and May’s “Defying Gravity,” which comes from the people behind the world’s most high profile gay club, London’s G-A-Y. Decca will donate a share of the proceeds from the sale of the single to the Mercury Phoenix Trust.
