Clark heads to BAM from New York’s Orchestra of St. Luke’s.
Brooklyn Academy of Music has announced the appointment of Katy Clark as incoming president. She will succeed Karen Brooks Hopkins, who plans to step down at the end of June. Clark comes to BAM from New York’s Orchestra of St. Luke’s, where she has served as president and executive director since 2010.
In her role as president, Clark will oversee BAM’s 248 full-time employees and work alongside longtime BAM executive producer Joseph V. Melillo. BAM engages with more than 700,000 audience members each year, presenting live performances and films from around the world.
"BAM has always been fearless in the creation and presentation of art, for the borough of Brooklyn, the city of New York, and audiences around the world," said Katy Clark in a statement.
"It is with great pride that I acknowledge the unique role BAM plays in the cultural community of New York and the world. It is truly a home for adventurous audiences and ideas, and I know that Katy Clark will embrace its challenges and contribute to its many successes," BAM president Karen Brooks Hopkins added.
Clark is an alumna of the League of American Orchestras’ Orchestral
