The new drama is directed by three-time Tony Award nominee Michael Greif.
Katori Hall's Our Lady of Kibeho, directed by Michael Greif, celebrated its opening night at the Pershing Square Signature Center on November 16. Based on real events, the drama is set in 1981 where a village girl in Rwanda claims to see the Virgin Mary. Ostracized by her schoolmates and labeled disturbed, everyone refuses to believe, until the impossible starts happening and upheaval ensues in the school community and beyond.
The cast of Our Lady of Kibeho is made up of Starla Benford, Jade Eshete, Danaya Esperanza, Niles Fitch, Kambi Gathesha, Brent Jennings, Joaquina Kalukango, Mandi Masden, Irungu Mutu, Owiso Odera, Nneka Okafor, Stacey Sargeant, T. Ryder Smith, Angel Uwamahoro, and Bowman Wright.
The design team includes Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Emily Rebholz (costume design), Ben Stanton (lighting design), Matt Tierney (sound design), Peter Nigrini (projection design), Greg Meeh (special effects design), Paul Rubin (aerial effects design), Michael McElroy (original music/arrangements and music direction), Rick Sordelet (fight direction), Dawn-Elin Fraser (dialect coach), and Faye Armon-Troncoso (props and set dressing).
