Lindsay will take flight as the magical nanny this holiday season.

Kara Lindsay will star play the title role in Paper Mill Playhouse’s upcoming production of Disney and Cameron Mackintosh’s Mary Poppins, opening the theater’s 88th season this fall in Millburn, New Jersey.
Lindsay is best known for originating Katherine Plumber in Newsies on Broadway and playing Glinda in Wicked on Broadway and on tour, will lead the production. The Disney/Cameron Mackintosh musical begins performances November 18 ahead of an official opening November 22. The engagement runs through January 3.
Paper Mill Producing Artistic Director Mark S. Hoebee will direct, with Denis Jones choreographing and Ben McNaboe serving as music director. Additional casting and the remainder of the creative team will be announced later.
Based on P. L. Travers’ Mary Poppins stories and the Walt Disney film, the stage musical features a book by Julian Fellowes, original music and lyrics by Richard M. Sherman and Robert B. Sherman, and new songs and additional music and lyrics by George Stiles and Anthony Drewe. The musical follows the Banks family and the arrival of Mary Poppins, a mysterious nanny who brings adventure, imagination, and discipline to the household’s two children. The score includes “A Spoonful of Sugar,” “Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious,” and “Step in Time.”
Lindsay has a long history with Paper Mill Playhouse, where her credits include the world-premiere production of Newsies, as well as A Jolly Holiday and Little House on the Prairie. She previously played Mary Poppins at North Carolina Theatre.
