Julianne Moore to Star in World Premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Faydra

Manhattan Theatre Club has announced that Academy Award winner Julianne Moore will play the title role in Sarah Ruhl’s Faydra, set to begin performances at New York City Center, Stage I ahead of an official opening night February 25.

The play is a modern take on the ancient Greek myth about a woman driven by her lust for her stepson-to-be. Ruhl’s previous works include Eurydice, Demeter in the City, and Becky Nurse of Salem.

Moore won an Oscar for her performance in Still Alice. She was nominated for her performances in Boogie Nights, Far From Heaven, The End of the Affair, and The Hours. She last appeared on Broadway in David Hare’s The Vertical Hour, nearly 20 years ago.

Tony nominee Les Waters (Dana H.) will direct the production. Further casting and production team will be announced at a later date.
