The cast of the New York Philharmonic's upcoming concert production of Show Boat held an open press rehearsal on October 31. Directed by Ted Sperling, the 1927 Jerome Kern-Oscar Hammerstein II musical will run from November 5-8 at Lincoln Center's Avery Fisher Hall.

Leading the cast are Vanessa Williams as Julie, Julian Ovenden as Gaylord Ravenal, Lauren Worsham as Magnolia, Fred Willard as Cap'n Andy, Jane Alexander as Parthy Ann, Norm Lewis as Joe, Alli Mauzey as Ellie, Edward Watts as Steve, NaTasha Yvette Williams as Queenie, and Christopher Fitzgerald as Frank.

Based on Edna Ferber's novel of the same name, the musical follows the lives of the performers, stagehands, and dock workers on the Mississippi River show boat Cotton Blossom over a period of 40 years. The Philharmonic production will use the show's original 1927 score, which includes the songs "Ol' Man River" and "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," as well as the original Robert Russell Bennett orchestrations.
