Emmy Award winner Mariette Hartley will be featured in Jeffrey Hatcher’s backstage comedy Ten Chimneys, the inaugural production in Cleveland Play House’s new Second Stage. Michael Bloom will direct the production, which will run January 13 – February 5, with an opening on January 15.
The play peeks into the private lives of theatre legends Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne at their secluded Wisconsin retreat where they often entertained the titans of Broadway and Hollywood — including Noël Coward, Katharine Hepburn and Laurence Olivier. In this comedy, a young starlet arrives to rehearse the Lunts’ latest production, Chekhov’s The Seagull, and unwittingly ignites a romantic triangle that eclipses any on-stage drama.
Hartley will play the role of Hattie Sederholm, mother of Alfred Lunt. The cast will also include Donald Carrier (Alfred Lunt), Jordan Baker (Lynn Fontanne), Michael McCarty (Sydney Greenstreet), Jeremy Kendall (Carl Sederholm), Kelli Ruttle (Uta Hagen), and Gail Rastorfer (Louise Greene).
The design team will include Lee Savage (scenic design), Michael Lincoln (lighting design), David Kay Mickelsen (costume design), and Lindsay Jones (sound design).
