The new comedy will run at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre.
A press conference went awry on March 2 as the Broadway company of the new British play The Play That Goes Wrong attempted to meet the press at Sardi's, but was felled by a series of uncommon and comedic occurrences. Check out the shenanigans in the gallery below.
The Play That Goes Wrong starts performances March 9 at the Lyceum Theatre, with opening night set for April 2. Directed by Mark Bell and cowritten by Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields of the troupe Mischief Theatre, The Play That Goes Wrong introduces the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society, a company attempting to put on a 1920s murder mystery. As everything that can go wrong does, the accident-prone thespians battle on against all the odds to get to their final curtain call.
The original London company, made up of Matthew Cavendish, Bryony Corrigan, Rob Falconer, Dave Hearn, Henry Lewis, Charlie Russell, Jonathan Sayer, Henry Shields, Greg Tannahill, and Nancy Zamit, transfers with the production. It has set design by Nigel Hook, lighting design by Ric Mountjoy, sound design by Andy Johnson, and costume design by Roberto Surace.
The Play That Goes Wrong is produced on Broadway by Kevin McCollum, J.J. Abrams, Kenny Wax Ltd. and Stage Presence Ltd and Catherine Schreiber.
