The 48th annual Village Voice Obie Awards ceremony honoring excellence in Off-Broadway theater will be held on May 19, hosted by Bill Irwin (The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?) and Charlayne Woodard (In Real Life).
Among the presenters at the ceremony will be celebrated playwright Edward Albee and actors Linda Emond (Life (x) 3), Jackie Hoffman (Hairspray), Eddie Izzard (A Day in the Death of Joe Egg), John Ortiz (References to Salvador Dali Make Me Hot), Martha Plimpton (Boston Marriage), and Liev Schreiber (The Mercy Seat). Entertainment will be provided by the cast of Hank Williams: Lost Highway and by Cynthia Hopkins, who will perform songs from The Transmission Projects show Compress Your Dreams.
The ceremony will be held at Webster Hall (125 East 11th Street) on Monday, May 19 at 8pm and will be broadcast live on WBAI 99.5 FM.
