Tony Award winner Idina Menzel will join Keith Lockhart and The Boston Pops! for a concert celebrating the orchestra’s 125th birthday, to be held at Symphony Hall on Tuesday, May 4 at 8pm.
The gala three-part program will honor the distinctive legacies of the Pops’ most famous conductors -Lockhart, John Williams, and Arthur Fiedler. The concert will also feature trumpeter Doc Severinsen and pianist Michael Chertock.
Upcoming guest artists for the Pops! season will include Dave Brubeck, Arlo Guthrie, Kelli O’Hara, Maureen McGovern, Ozomatli, and Daniel Bernard Roumain.
Other events will include the world premiere of a new work in honor of the Kennedy brothers; a 10th anniversary celebration of the popular radio and TV show “From the Top”; a film music series under the direction of John Williams; Gospel Night with Charles Floyd; and a Boston Pops 125th documentary, entitled America’s Orchestra: Celebrating 125 years of the Boston Pops to air on PBS in the spring.
