Academy Award winner Holly Hunter will join the previously reported stars Viola Davis and Maggie Gyllenhaal in the film, Still I Rise, according to Deadline.com. Daniel Barnz will helm the film.
The film is about two women who channel frustration into action and join forces to transform an inner-city public school. Hunter will play the head of the teachers union.
Hunter’s stage credits include Crimes of the Heart and The Wake of Jamey Foster on Broadway. She won an Oscar for her performance in The Piano and received additional Academy Award nominations for Broadcast News, The Firm, and Thirteen. In addition, she has earned two Emmy nominations for her work on the TNT drama Saving Grace.
