Hamlet Hallucinations Materializing at La Mama

“Pathological Theater” meets Shakespeare in this new adaptation of his classic tragedy.

On October 17, La MaMa E.T.C. will debut Hamlet Hallucinations, Italian cult director Dario D'Ambrosi's "psycho-transcription" of Shakespeare's Hamlet. D'Ambrosi, who just last year offered New York City a production of Medea interpreted by a chorus of mentally ill performers, is best known for theatrically exploring the controversial aspects of mental illness — a movement he has labeled "Teatro Patologico."

Take a look at the promo video for his newest piece, a provocative and "pathological" adaptation of the classic Shakespearean tragedy.
