Three-time Tony Award winner Frank Langella will return to Broadway in the spring of 2016 to star in the American premiere of Florian Zeller's drama The Father. Directed by Doug Hughes, the production will play Manhattan Theatre Club's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre beginning March 22, 2016, with opening night set for April 12, 2016.

Production representatives describe The Father as "a fascinating look inside the mind of Andre (Frank Langella), a retired dancer living with his adult daughter Anne and her husband. Or is he a retired engineer receiving a visit from Anne who has moved away with her boyfriend? Why do strangers keep turning up in his room? And where has he left his watch?"

A contemporary work about dealing with Alzheimer's, The Father, which received France's Molière Award, is translated into English by two-time Tony winner Christopher Hampton (Les Liaisons Dangereuses).

Additional casting and creative-team information will be announced in the coming months. Zeller's play is not related to the August Strindberg play of the same title.

Langella was most recently seen on Broadway in Roundabout Theatre Company's 2011 revival of Man and Boy. He received Tony Awards for his performances in Fortune's Fool and Frost/Nixon, for which he was also honored with an Academy Award nomination. He and director Hughes collaborated on Roundabout's 2008 revival of A Man for All Seasons.
