Signature Theatre announced the cast for Lauren Yee’s semi-autobiographical comedy King of the Yees, directed by Joshua Kahan Brody and running October 6 – November 15 in the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theater at the Pershing Square Signature Center.
Yee’s third Signature production, following Mother Russia and Cambodian Rock Band, finds the playwright zooming in on her own family and complex relationship with San Francisco’s Chinatown.
Tony Award winner Francis Jue will play Larry Yee, Yee’s character’s father, reprising the role he played in Chicago and LA.
Joining Jue are The Last Jedi‘s Kelly Marie Tran as Lauren, the character based on the playwright, Daniel K. Isaac as Actor 3, Maureen Sebastian as Actor 2, and David Shih as Actor 1.
The creative team includes scenic designer Krit Robinson, costume designer Michelle J. Li, lighting designer Jiyoun Chang, sound designer Fan Zhang, and illusions designer Steve Cuiffo.
