Frances Conroy to Join Lifetime’s June Carter Cash Biopic

Multi-award-winning actress play Frances Conroy will play Maybelle Carter in Lifetime’s upcoming bio-film about singer June Carter Cash, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The project, which is based on Carter Cash’s son John Carter Cash’s memoir Anchored in Love: An Intimate Portrait of June Carter Cash, will be directed by Allison Anders. Jewel will play June, with Matt Ross set to play Johnny Cash.


Conroy’s many stage credits include The Lady From Dubuque, Long Day’s Journey Into Night, The Taming of the Shrew, The Secret Rapture. The Last Yankee, Broken Glass, The Ride Down Mt. Morgan, and The Subject Was Roses.


She won the Golden Globe Award and received four Emmy Award nominations for her work on HBO’s Six Feet Under and most recently appeared on American Horror Story.
