Watch Lindsay Mendez and Betsy Wolfe belt side by side at the 2010 Tony Awards.
Lindsay Mendez made headlines this week when she was announced as the new Carrie Pipperidge in the upcoming Broadway revival of Carousel — the role that current Waitress star Betsy Wolfe had to depart a few weeks back due to a scheduling conflict.
Both actresses can soprano the heck out of any Rodgers and Hammerstein number, so in lieu of celebrating one over the other, we decided to flash back to the show that gave them a chance to share the stage. Nearly eight years ago, with only one Broadway credit apiece at the time, Mendez and Wolfe flanked Sherie Rene Scott every night in her autobiographical musical Everyday Rapture. They even joined Scott (who currently stars in The Portuguese Kid at Manhattan Theatre Club) for the opening number of the 2010 Tony Awards, performing the Supremes song "Up the Ladder to the Roof" — the natural precursor to "Mister Snow."
