Danai Gurira's new Broadway drama Eclipsed opens Sunday, March 6, at the John Golden Theatre.
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o (12 Years a Slave) makes her Broadway debut alongside Pascale Armand, Akosua Busia, Zainab Jah, and Saycon Sengbloh, who round out the all-female cast.
The story offers a look at the Liberian Civil War from the perspective of women held captive by a Liberian rebel officer. With the arrival of a new woman who can read, and the return of an old one who can kill, their possibilities are quickly transformed.
Liesl Tommy directs the piece, which played a sold-out run at the Public Theater in 2015, as well as a run at Yale Repertory Theatre in 2009.
