First Listen: Kerry Butler and Gabi Carrubba Sing "Three Bedroom House" From New Bat Boy Cast Album

Ghostlight Records and Yellow Sound Label will release the New York City Center cast recording of Bay Boy: The Musical in digital and streaming formats on Friday, August 28. A physical edition will be drop later this year.

Below, listen to the track “Three Bedroom House,” featuring stars Kerry Butler (Meredith Parker) and Gabi Carrubba (Shelley Parker), a number our critic said they “absolutely decimate.”

In addition to Butler and Carrubba, Bat Boy stars Taylor Trensch in the title role, alongside Christopher Sieber (Dr. Parker), Andrew Durand (Rick Taylor), Mary Faber (Lorraine), Alan H. Green (Bud), Evan Harrington (Ned), John-Michael Lyles (Ron Taylor/Rancher), Tom McGowan (Sheriff Reynolds), Jacob Ming-Trent (Reverend Hightower), Alex Newell (The God Pan), Olivia Puckett (Ruthie Taylor/Rancher), Marissa Rosen (Daisy), Colin Trudell (Charley), Rema Webb (Maggie), Marissa Jaret Winokur (Mrs. Taylor), August Bagg, Will Mann, and Stephanie Reuning-Scherer.

Bat Boy features a score by Laurence O’Keefe and a book by Keythe Farley and Brian Flemming. This new album features three new songs and expanded orchestrations by O’Keefe and Ben Green for 12 musicians.

Bat Boy is inspired by a tabloid article from the 1990s and tells the story of a half-human, half-bat teenager who searches for acceptance in a small town after he’s discovered living in a cage. The New York City Center production was directed by Alex Timbers, with musical direction by Andrew Resnick and choreography by Connor Gallagher.
