Baltimore’s CENTERSTAGE has announced preliminary details on its 2009-2010 season, which will be include several new series of productions.
The Pearlstone Theatre Series will feature four mainstage productions: Oscar Wilde’s The Importance of Being Earnest; a co-production of Around the World in 80 Days with Chicago’s Lookingglass Theatre; the American premiere of Kwame Kwei-Armah’s Let There Be Love; and a revival of August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom starring E. Faye Butler.
The Head Theatre will host Robert Dorfman in a production of David Sedaris’ holiday favorite The Santaland Diaries, about working as an elf at Macy’s in New York City.
In addition, CENTERSTAGE will offer a new “Short Work” series, which will include a 50-minute, three-character version of Cyrano de Bergerac and a play by Aaron Sorkin, along with a series of concert readings of plays and cabaret performances by local favorites.
