David Greenspan, Diana Oh, and More Join the Bushwick Starr's 2018-19 Lineup

The Bushwick Starr has announced its 2018-19 season productions.
Opening the season will be Raja Feather Kelly's Ugly (Part 1) (September 5-8). Described as "part dance-theater and part pop-culture collage," Ugly will feature lighting design by Tuce Yasak, sound by Emily Auciello, photography by Kate Enman, and set design by You-Shin Chen.
Next will be The Things That Were There (October 10-November 4), written by David Greenspan and directed by Lee Sunday Evans, and coproduced with Abingdon Theatre Company. Described as "a memory play and a meditation on loss," the production will feature performances by Evander Duck Jr., David Greenspan, Caitlin Morris, Cesar Rosado, and Mary Shultz. The creative team includes lighting design by Barbara Samuels, and set and costume design by Carolyn Mraz.
The following production will be Diana Oh's The Infinite Love Party: An intentional barefoot dinner, dance party, and sleepover (January 11, 2019-February 2, 2019). With cocreative direction by Diana Oh and Kevin Hourigan, the show will feature Bloom Davis, Shelley Fort, Leland Fowler, Kevin Hourigan, Zoraida Ingles, Poppy Liu, Mariah MacCarthy, Nessa Norich, Diana Oh, Hye Yun Park, and MeiAnn Teo. The Infinite Love Party is described as "a celebration of soul awakening. It's where play breeds change. It's where queer magic can do its healing. For all people."
Next up is Suicide Forest (February 27, 2019-March 16, 2019), a play by Kristine Haruna Lee, directed by Aya Ogawa, and presented in association with Ma-Yi Theater Company. The production will feature Ako, Yuki Kawahisa, Aoi Lee, Kristine Haruna Lee, Jiro Ueno, and others. The creative team includes set design by Jian Jung, light and video design by Jeanette Oi-Suk Yew, sound design by Fan Zhang, music by Jen Goma, and costume design by Alice Tavener. "In 1990s Japan, a salaryman desperately searches for his self-worth, while a lonely teenage girl grapples with her sexuality in a nightmarish, male-defined society. When the two find an awkward companionship in each other, they expose their darkest desires fueled by masochism and shame, and must now confront life and death as the notorious Suicide Forest looms over their imagination."
The ninth annual Big Green Theater Festival, an eco-playwriting festival for Bushwick 4th and 5th grade students, will then run April 26-28, 2019. The festival will be presented with Superhero Clubhouse.
Closing out the season will be Cabin (May 22-June 8, 2019), created and directed by Sean Donovan. The show will feature Tyler Ashley, Sean Donovan, and Brandon Washington with original compositions by Heather Christian. The creative team includes sound design by Dan Dobson, video design by Austin Switser, costume design by Wendy Yang, and lighting design by Amanda Ringger. "Cabin is the reconstruction of an unsettling memory of a cabin in the woods and the throuple who made a life together inside of it. Part theater, dance, film, and live music, Cabin explores the lines between myth and memoir, the memories stored in objects, the complexity of intimacy, and the magnitude of loss."
