Torres will play Omara Portuondo during Tony Award winner Natalie Venetia Belcon’s planned leave of absence.

Gina Torres will join the cast of Buena Vista Social Club on Broadway at the Schoenfeld Theatre. Torres will step into the role of Omara Portuondo during Tony Award winner Natalie Venetia Belcon’s planned leave of absence from October 13-November 29.
Torres, known for roles in Suits and Firefly, made her Broadway debut in 1994 in David Henry Hwang’s Face Value.
Inspired by true events, Buena Vista Social Club brings the 1997 Grammy Award-winning album to life, featuring a book by Tony nominee Marco Ramirez, direction by Tony nominee Saheem Ali, and choreography by Tony Award winners Patricia Delgado and Justin Peck.
