Producer Scott Rudin announced today that Grammy- and Emmy-winning composer Danny Elfman will be contributing original music to the world-premiere Broadway production of Taylor Mac's new comedy, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus, beginning performances tonight at the Booth Theatre.

Elfman — composer of over 100 film scores including Edward Scissorhands, Beetlejuice, and The Nightmare Before Christmas — joins a creative team that includes four-time Tony winner Santo Loquasto (scenic design), Tony and Academy Award winner Ann Roth (costume design), and nine-time Tony winner Jules Fisher and three-time Tony winner Peggy Eisenhauer (lighting design).

Starring three-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane as Gary and directed by five-time Tony Award winner George C. Wolfe, Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus is set just after the blood-soaked conclusion of William Shakespeare's first tragedy, Titus Andronicus. Also featured in the cast are Tony nominee Kristine Nielsen (taking over the role of Janice, previously played by Andrea Martin) and Tony winner Julie White (taking over the role of Carol, previously played by Nielsen).

The civil war has ended. The country has been stolen by madmen, and there are casualties everywhere — among them a midwife on the verge of death (White). And two very lowly servants (Lane and Nielsen) are charged with cleaning up the bodies. The year is 400 — but it feels like the end of the world.

Gary: A Sequel to Titus Andronicus opens on April 11.
