Dakin Matthews and Sarah Aldrich will star in the American premiere production of Terry Johnson’s Hitchcock Blonde at South Coast Repertory in Costa Mesa, California, February 3-March 12.

Johnson will direct the show, which will feature sets, costumes, and video by William Dudley (The Woman in White). The cast also includes Adriana DeMeo, Martin Noyes, and Robin Sachs, while the creative team includes Chris Parry (lighting) and Ian Dickinson (composer/sound design). The play concerns a British film lecturer and his lovely young student, both of whom are fascinated by the work of the great film director Alfred Hitchcock. A hit in the West End, Hitchcock Blonde was at one time intended for a Broadway production with Jane Krakowski starring.

Matthews, who will play Hitchcock, co-starred in and adapted the Lincoln Center Theater production of Henry IV, for which he won a Drama Desk Award. He received L.A. Drama Critics Circle Awards for his work in The School for Wives and Shadowlands, and he recently wrote and starred in The Prince of L.A., for which he won a special award from the same group.

Aldrich, who will play “The Blonde,” has numerous regional theatre credits including Heaven, Quartet, and The Lion in Winter. She is well known to daytime television viewers as Courtney Kanelos on Port Charles and Victoria Newman on The Young and the Restless.
