Clybourne Park Starring Tony Award Winner Alice Ripley Opens Tonight at Long Wharf Theatre

The ensemble cast features Tony Award winner Alice Ripley (Next to Normal) as Bev/Kathy as well as Jimmy Davis (The House of Blue Leaves) as Jim/Tom/Kenneth, Tony Award nominee Daniel Jenkins (Golden Boy) as Russ/Dan, LeRoy McClain (Cymbeline) as Albert/Kevin, Alex Moggridge (Chinglish) as Karl/Steve, Lucy Owen (Body Language) as Betsy/Lindsey, and Melle Powers (In the Next Room, or the vibrator play) as Francine/Lena.

Clybourne Park explores race relations in America by delving into two separate time periods in each of the play’s two acts. In Act I, a group of nervous neighbors try to talk a family out of selling their home in a Chicago neighborhood to an African-American family. Act II flashes forward to the 21st century where a white family is attempting to move into the very same home, now located in a predominantly black neighborhood. The play originally opened at Broadway’s Walter Kerr Theater on April 19, 2012 where it played a total of 157 performances, winning the 2012 Tony Award for Best Play.

Directed by Long Wharf’s Associate Artistic Director Eric Ting, Clybourne Park‘s creative team features sets by Frank Alberino, costumes by Linda Cho, lighting by Tyler Micoleau, and sound by Elizabeth Rhodes.
