Broadway Stars to Unite for Benefit Concert Honoring Aaron Lazar

Broadway stars will come together this summer to support actor Aaron Lazar in his ongoing fight against amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) with Extraordinary: Broadway Sings for Aaron Lazar, a one-night-only benefit concert at the Bell Theater at Bell Works on Monday, August 31 at 7 p.m.

Hosted by two-time Tony nominee Kate Baldwin, the concert will celebrate Lazar’s career, artistry, and resilience while raising funds directly for the actor. The evening will be directed by Hunter Foster with music direction by Nate Patten. It is produced by Axelrod Performing Arts Center Executive Artistic Director Andrew DePrisco.

Lazar and Baldwin previously starred together in Axelrod’s 2022 production of The Bridges of Madison County. Just days into rehearsals for the production, Lazar received a diagnosis of ALS.

Baldwin will be joined onstage by Norbert Leo Butz, Miguel Cervantes, Victoria Clark, Katie Rose Clarke, Mandy Gonzalez, Marc Kudisch, Kara Lindsay, Michael Minarik, Christiane Noll, Jessica Phillips, Bryce Pinkham, Scarlett Strallen, and Tony Yazbeck. Additional performers will be announced. The evening will also feature a special reunion of the Axelrod cast of The Bridges of Madison County.

Thanks to the support of Cabaret for Life, the New Jersey nonprofit founded by DePrisco in 1995, along with Bell Works and the Axelrod Performing Arts Center, 100 percent of funds raised will be donated directly to Lazar.
